Our class had a fantastic time in London. The lovely weather allowed us to walk around the Tower of London and have lunch outside in the sunshine. We visited lots of places within the Tower of London including the Crown Jewels, the White Tower and the battlements. We loved looking at all of the armoury and the gigantic dragon! We pulled funny faces at the guardsmen to try and make them laugh and had our picture taken with a Yeoman Warder. We visited lots of landmarks on the coach including Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, The London Eye, Downing Street and Trafalgar Square.
We have been learning all about the Great Fire of London. We made Tudor houses and set them alight, so we could see how quickly a fire would spread in dry and windy conditions, just like September 1666.
For the past two days children across the school have been busy making large safari animals out of newspaper. Our class was given crocodiles and flamingos! The children worked really hard and I could not be more proud of what we have achieved! A special thank you to Art Solutions and all of the parents who helped out over the past two days. We would not have been able to create these amazing pieces without your assistance!
Have a look through the photos to see the process of creating our safari animals and the finished results.
Following our trip to Colchester Zoo, we made African silhouette pictures using pastels. The children had to carefully blend red, orange and yellow pastels to create a sunset background. They then traced an animal template onto black card and cut it out. I am sure you will agree that they look fantastic!
We had a lot of fun on our trip to Colchester Zoo! We saw lots of animals including penguins, lions, meerkats, sea lions, sun bears and monkeys! We had an African Safari talk with one of the zoo keepers. We looked at animal skeletons and different furs. We also learnt all about habitats. The best part was feeding the elephants and giraffes! Thank you very much to all the parents who helped make an enjoyable trip for the children. Make sure you look at the photos below!

Something strange has been delivered to our classroom. I wonder what it could be?
We will be updating this page regularly with posts on all of the fun stuff we have been learning. So far we started off the year with the topic 'all about me'. Children made self portraits, explored the five senses and learnt about all the different parts of the body. We even drew life size people and labelled them. Have a look below!
