Week beginning 2nd March 2015-We have been learning about superhero's this week. We received a letter from Batman setting us the challenge of designing him a new car. We accepted his challenge and started to design our super cars. We recorded what we thought we would need to design the car and then drew a picture of our car. We then made our car and tried to follow our designs as carefully as possible. Afterwards we evaluated our finished designs and tested our superhero cars out. Hopefully Batman will be very impressed with our cars!
Friday 27th February 2015-Help!!!! The Ice man froze some innocent people in ice today! Our challenge was to try and get the people out of the ice by the end of the day. We thought about what would be the quickest way to do this and recorded our ideas down. We then set about our challenge and managed to free everyone before they were destroyed by ice man. Hooray!
Pip and Snowy exploring 1OB
We do like to get up to all sorts of mischief!
We tried to put Queen's and King's onto a timeline. We then watched the Queen's coronation and decided to make our own Queen in 1OB.
Happy New Year 1OB!
This half term our topic is 'Kings and Queens'. A few changes have already appeared in our classroom. We have a new design on our classroom door and a castle role play area. We have enjoyed pretending to be kings, queens and castle servants!
Our learning this week has focused on the queen and the royal family. We have been taught how to sketch portraits and have made our own portraits of the queen. They are excellent!
Look at some of our amazing portraits of the queen.
More photos of our new topic - Kings and Queens.
Have a very merry Christmas!
Monday 1st December
Today we had a visit from a STEM ambassador who came to talk to us about dinosaurs and fossils. He brought lots of interesting fossils for us to look at.
In Maths this week we have been learning about position and direction. We enjoyed using the iPads to give instructions to BeeBot.
We give BeeBot instructions so that he can move around the screen.
Friday 28th November 2014- We had the chance to look at a real fossil today that was roughly 80 millions years old. We thought about where it had come from and some of the children thought it was part of a fossil from a stegosaurus.
Jurassic Park - Thursday 20th November
This week the children have been learning all about herbivores. They learnt facts about the brachiosaurus, the stegosaurus and the triceratops and made fact sheets about dinosaurs in Literacy.
The children have also been measuring dinosaur bones.
We used cubes and rulers to measure our dinosaur bones.
We measured the length of a brachiosaurus!
Thursday 13th November 2014- it's been an egg-tastic week in school and a giant egg has appeared in our corridor and a dinosaur has hatched out of it We have decided to become palentologists and find out everything that we can about dinosaurs. So far we know that the dinosaur has escaped in school and is a herbivore and keeps causing mischief in our classroom everyday.
In numeracy this week we have been thinking about number bonds and addition.
We have made poppies for remembrance day. We will be holding a minute silence on 11th November at 11:00am.
Thursday 6th November 2014- We have been learning about Guy Fawkes and bonfire night. We have started to make some fantastic fire work pictures.
We had fun conducting our jelly experiment. We predicted whether the jelly would dissolve fastest as a whole block or broken up into little cubes. The best part of our experiment was getting to eat the jelly.
In Art this week we have been practising our cutting skills to create different silhouettes.

We had fun experimenting with liquids.
26th September 2014-Roald Dahl day
We had a fantastic day on Friday as we dressed up as our favourite Roald Dahl characters. We looked at the story 'The Enormous crocodile' and made a giant crocodile for our year group display. We thought of lots of adjectives to describe the crocodile and throughout the day made lots of crocodiles. Mrs O'Neill dressed up as the Roly Poly Bird. We told her to watch out for the children who were dressed up as crocodiles if she didn't want the crocodile to eat her tail feathers again!
This term we have looked at Percy the park keeper and what it is like to be a park keeper. Unfortunately there was a terrible storm and Percy's house was destroyed. We have decided to become a builders company and try and design Percy a new house. We walked to the park last Thursday to try and think about where could be a good place to build his house.
