Today the AM children added colour to our snake. We think it looks fantastic already but we are still not quite finished!
The PM children covered the Acacia tree trunk with black crepe paper. We can't wait to see the finished result when we come to Nursery tomorrow!

Today Art Solutions came into school to help us create some Safari artwork. We learnt how to twist, squash and fold newspaper to create 3D animals and trees. We have to use lots of glue and get very sticky but we are pleased with our work so far and can't wait to finish it tomorrow.
LOOK at our excellent elephant handprint art. We chose our favourite colour for the background and used our hands to create an elephant. We clearfully added an eye, tusk and tail.
We have made some lovely lions during fine motor activities this week. We tried hard to curl the mane by wrapping the paper around a pencil or our finger. Although it was quite tricky we persevered and didn't give up (one of our school promises). We loved turning our faces into lion faces by adding a wet black shiny nose and long whiskers!
After reading the story of the lion hunt we had a great fun acting it out in PE. We swish swashed through the grass, splish splashed through the lake, squelch squerched through the swamp and tiptoed through the cave-we even came nose to nose with a lion! The children were absolutely fantastic at using story language and can't wait to go on another hunt again soon.
Today we read a story called 'We're Going on a Lion Hunt' by David Axtell. We loved it and listening really carefully. When we read it again we all joined in with the parts we knew. Listen to it again with your grown up and show then how you can join in.

Two young girls set out to find a lion.
This week we have started our new topic 'On Safari'. We have been finding out about all of the different animals that live in the wild in Africa. We are practicing naming and describing the animals.
