During the Spring team we have been recapping all the sounds to date.

 

We have been practicing blending sounds to make words. 

at, dad, mat, sad, sat, mad 

 

The children have been listening very hard to identify the initial sound of words. 

 

Some children have been looking at some red words

8th - 12th February 

This week we have been learning all about the letter u. 

 

We looked inside 'Freddy's' box, we found an umbrella, a unicycle and unicorn. 

 

Next we read the Jolly Phonic story and then we sung the song.

1st - 5th February 

 

This week we have been learning all about the letter o. 

 

In 'Freddy's' box this week we found an octopus, an orange, an olive and otter. 

 

We looked at the o story and we sung the song.

The children were curious when we talked about olives so we bought some to try during snack time. Some of the children were brave enough to try an olive. A few children said they liked them but most decided they did not like olive.

 

25th - 29th January 

 

This week we have been learning all about the letter g. 

 

We looked inside 'Freddy's' box, we found a goat, a guitar, a gift box, a gorilla and a goldfish. 

 

We then sung the Jolly Phonic song.

11th - 15th January 

 

This week we have been learning all about the letter h. 

 

We sung the Jolly Phonic song, 'I like to hop, hop, hop, up and down, I like to hop, hop, hop, all around, I like to hop, hop, hop, up and down, h,h,h,h,h'.

 

When writing the letter h, we said, "down the head to the hooves and over his back".

7th-11th December 2015

 

This week we have learned all about the letter w (as it is windy and we are learning about winter!)

 

We sing 'I see the clouds moving, w w w, I see the kites flying, w w w, I see the trees bending, w w w, the wind is blowing strong.

 

When we write the letter we say "down, up, down, up".

30th November-4th December 2015

 

This week we have learned all about the letters c and k.   We found out that they have different names but both make the same sound even when they are next to each other (like in clock).

23rd-27th November 2015

 

This week we have reviewed all of the sounds we have learned so far.  Mrs. Death and Miss Davies are SO impressed with us! We all practiced writing the sounds in our Literacy books and some of us can even make words using the sounds we know.  WOW!

16th-20th November 2015

 

This week we have learned all about the letter n.

 

We sing 'see the aeroplane, nnnnnn, see the aeroplane, nnnnnnn, see the aeroplane, nnnnnn, making lots of noise'.

 

When we write the word we say "down Nobby and over his net".

This week we have learned all about the letter p.

 

We sing 'puff out the candles on the pink pig cake, p p p, p p p.  Puff out the candles on the pink pig cake, puff, puff, puff'. 

 

When we write the letter we say "down the pirate's plait and around his face".

This week we have learned all about the letter i. 

 

We sing 'Inky the mouse is my pet.  She spilled the ink and got wet.  The ink it spread all over the desk, i i i i Inkys's wet'.

 

When we write the letter we think about an insect and say "down the body, dot for the head."

This week we have learned all about the letter m. 

 

We sing 'the mum and the dad make many meals. Mmm, mmm.  The mum and the dad make many meals for their hungry children'.

 

When we write the letter we say "Maisie, mountain, mountain".

This week we have learned all about the letter t. 

 

We sing 'when I watch the tennis game, t t t, t t t, when I watch the tennis game, my head goes back and forth'.

 

When we write the letter we say 'down the tower, across the tower'.

This week we have learned all about the letter a.

 

We sing 'a a ants on my arm, a a ants on my arm, a a ants on my arm, they're causing me alarm!'

 

When we write the letter we say 'around the apple and down the leaf'.  We start at the top and must remember not to lift our pencil off of the paper until the letter is finished.

This week we have learned all about the letter s.

 

We sing 'the snake is in the grass, the snake is in the grass, ssss, ssss, the snake is in the grass'.

 

When we write the letter we say 'slither down the snake'.  We start on the snakes head and must not lift our pencil off of the paper until we get to his tail.
