Wow, what an amazing half term we have had! Our topic 'Fly me to the moon' has been incredible and the children have thoroughly engaged in all of their learning and are now experts in naming the planets, and talking about the Solar System.

At the beginning of the topic we were lucky enough to experience the Solar System inside a giant planetarium, this was a truly valuable experience that we still talk about.

During this topic the children have all found out about Neil Armstrong and his amazing journey in becoming the first man on the moon. The children were so excited about this that they then wrote amazing newspaper reports about the Apollo 11 moon landing.

One of our favourite activities has been creating papier mache planets. The children have really enjoyed designing and making their very own planet.

Look at our amazing work!

We ordered the planets and found out some interesting facts.

We have also been learning about the star constellations.

We are thoroughly enjoying our topic of Awesome Authors this half term. We have been learning about Emily Gravett who is a famous Author and Illustrator. The children have really enjoyed reading and listening to her stories, especially Meerkat Mail! We have been inspired, and have been busy writing poems, advertisements and even our own stories.

This week the children have used clay to make models of Meerkats which we have painted and created a setting for.

We have had some very exciting visits from Chris Wormell and Darron Jon Love who shared their amazing stories with us.

Next week Nick Butterworth is also visiting our school, which the children are very excited about.

In maths we have been finding out about fractions and investigating fractions of numbers and shape.

Well done 2ZP!

What another busy and exciting half term we are having!

Our current topic is Rain Rain Go Away and we have been learning about the Water Cycle, clouds and Tornadoes. The children  enjoyed  creating a Water Cycle in a bag and watching it on the window. We also sang a song to help us remember what happens.

We have been learning about different types of clouds and I have been very impressed by lots of children coming into the classroom and describing the weather, and which cloud formation it is!

In Literacy the children have written amazing call and response poems saying thank you to the rain, and also a non chronological report about weather. They tried to include lots of interesting facts and remembered lots from our topic.

Well done 2ZP!

Wow! What an amazing day we had yesterday celebrating the end of our Incredible India topic. All of the children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the activities which included dancing, printing and creating Mendap decorations,

We even tasted traditional Indian snacks. It was a fun filled end to a fascinating learning experience.

We have been very impressed with the enthusiasm of all of the children throughout the topic.

What a busy week we are having!

We are continuing our exciting journey around India and are currently learning about Agra in the north of India. The children have enjoyed finding interesting facts and have been amazed by the Taj Mahal.

Later on in the week we are creating our own models of the Taj Mahal using junk modelling, which we are looking forward to.

In literacy we are recognising features of non fiction books and are collecting our own facts about India. At the end of the topic we will be using all of our facts to write a non chronological report.

In maths we have been measuring and had lots of fun weighing classroom objects.

I have been very impressed with the homework that 2ZP have been completing, well done!

Fantastic work 2ZP!
