Adventure & PE
At Springfield Infants School and Nursery we intend to give children the opportunity to develop physical skills and knowledge in order to participate, compete and lead a healthy active lifestyle. Children should be given time to develop the competence to excel in a wide range of physical activities. All children should aspire to be physically active for sustained periods of time (75% or more of lesson time). All staff should provide opportunities for children to engage in competitive sports and activities, within curriculum time and during ‘After school clubs’. Children should have a positive attitude towards their physical health and well-being. All children should have an understanding of what they need to do to improve their performance, so that they can achieve their personal best. Before they leave our school all children will have the opportunity to learn how to swim and to have knowledge of how to remain safe in and around water. (Swimming has to be taught at some point before the end of Key Stage 2).
