Chat Challenge

To encourage your child to talk and to develop their vocabulary we will be adding different tasks here. Why not have a go at the activities below. Just click on the link and choose activities appropriate for your child.

Reading

If you are able we ask you to encourage your child to continue reading as much as possible. Ideally we ask that children are reading daily from Monday to Friday, but we appreciate that this is a very challenging time, so we simply ask you to do what you can to keep up their love of reading. We also know that families will not have an unlimited supply of books at home for their child to read, and as a school we have only been able to send out a handful of books from the reading scheme for you to have at home. However, we can direct you to useful online resources so children can continue to read.

Below is a  link to the Oxford Owl ebook library , which is free to access at home and will provide lots of books for your child to read. This site is mobile and tablet friendly, making it easy to use anywhere around the home.  Getepic is also a useful site and has numerous books to try.  Follow the link below for free books for 30 days.

Read, Write Inc

It is important thatnchildren maintain their phonics skills. Below you will find a link to the daily (Monday - Friday) Read Write Inc speed sound sessions for your child to participate in. After these videos go live between 9:30 and 10:30 am you will be able to view them throughout the day. The sessions that are most relevant for Reception children are at 09:30 (Speed sounds Set 1) and 10:00 (Speed sounds Set 2).
