As the Year 2 assessment tests (SATS) are rapidly approaching we thought that you might like to know how you can support your child at home. To achieve Age Related Expectations in maths the children need to be secure in certain skills. The two areas we find are the most common areas of weakness are their ability telling the time and knowing the 2, 5 & 10 times tables.
We are working hard at school on both of these areas but any help you can give at home would increase your child's chance of success. There are some links below that you might find useful.
At Year 2 they need to be able to read and record the time to o'clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past the hour. Children working at Great Depth also need to be able to read and record the time to 5 minute intervals.
The Percy Parker CD's are a great way of learning times Tables whilst having fun singing.
